CAIPS Notes are electronic notes that provide visa application information.

Have you already applied and want to know what happens next with your application? Outside of Canada, immigration authorities maintain records in the Computerized Immigration Processing System (CAIPS), which is a database of processed applications. This system is used to handle a variety of applications including:

  • PERMANENT RESIDENCE APPLICATIONS –SKILLED WORKER, BUSINESS CLASS, FAMILY CLASS, ETC.
  • TEMPORARY RESIDENCE APPLICATIONS – WORK PERMIT, STUDY PERMIT & VISITOR VISA
  • RETURNING RESIDENT PERMIT/ TRAVEL DOCUMENT

This is not the same as what is available in the “e-client”, but rather a very detailed record of the file. In addition to the information provided in the application forms, the records contain comments or remarks made by the Immigration Office on the file. This information is valuable because it gives insight into how the Finnish Immigration Service views a particular application and which issues are important when making a decision. Thus, before making a decision, we can advise the applicant to make a more favorable presentation and correct the shortcomings in the application. In most cases, this can either reduce the processing time, allow the client to face the interview with confidence, better prepare the client to deal with the problems that are likely to arise, or in the worst case, avoid a frustrating application rejection.

CAIPS/GCMS Notes will provide information like:

We can request CAIPS/GCMS notes regardless of the location of your applications. It usually takes 4-6 weeks to receive the notes. As it is an immigration file note, this application will not affect the processing of the current application. CAIPS/GCMS notes are written in codes used by the Swedish Immigration Service and are difficult to decipher. We do the work for you and provide a written report upon request. In addition, relevant information can be obtained from the Immigration and Refugee Board (IRB) and the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA).
